Patricia Paruch is Of Counsel to the firm and is Co-Editor of both the Michigan Environmental Law Journal and the Michigan Environmental Law Section’s environmental law Deskbook. Ms. Paruch has a 25-year history of service to southeast Michigan communities from serving as Mayor of the City of Royal Oak from 1989 to 1993, City Commissioner from 1979 to 1989, a member of the Royal Oak Planning Commission from 1979 to 1993, and Mayor pro tem for two years. In November, 2014, the Royal Oak City Commission appointed her to fill a vacancy on the Commission. Ms. Paruch ran for reelection in 2015 and was sworn in the first week of December.

Ms. Paruch was a member of the Transportation and Environmental Affairs Committee of the Michigan Municipal League from 1991 to 1993. Ms. Paruch chaired SEMCOG’s Special Task Force on Urban Enhancement in 1994. In April 1995, she was appointed to the Oakland County Public Transportation Authority by the Oakland County Board of Commissioners and served as the Authority’s Chair from 2003-2006.

In 1988, Ms. Paruch shared the Michigan Society of Planning Officials’ Honor Award as a member of the Royal Oak Plan Commission with Graphic House, Inc. for the I-696 Woodward Urban Design Plan. In addition, she was one of only six Michigan municipal officials to receive the Special Award of Merit from the Michigan Municipal League in 1987. She served as Chairperson of the Finance and Taxation Committee of the Michigan Municipal League from 1985 to 1987.

Ms. Paruch maintains an “AV” peer review rating with Martindale-Hubbell Law Directory, the highest peer review rating for attorneys. She has also been selected by her peers for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America© 2017 in the field of Environmental Law (Copyright 2016 by Woodward/White, Inc., of SC). She has been included in the Best Lawyers listing since 2011.
