Jay Morse counsels clients regarding business and real property transactions, as well as general business matters. He helps business owners effectively plan, negotiate, and manage transactions to streamline operations and achieve the most secure legal outcome for his clients. Mr. Morse is skilled in the areas of formation and structuring, soft intellectual property (trademark and copyright), transaction financing, and contract negotiation, among others. He focuses his practice on asset and interest transactions, outside general counsel matters (including drafting license, employment, non-disclosure, non-competition and non-solicitation agreements), and real property matters.

Before earning his J.D., Mr. Morse promoted U.S. exportation in the public and private sectors through the U.S. Commercial Service, the trade promotion arm of the Department of Commerce, at the U.S. Embassy in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and then taking that experience to a packaging manufacturer in Michigan. During law school, he earned credit towards his J.D. through the University of Wisconsin Law School’s Law & Entrepreneurship program, assisting start-up and early stage businesses, and as a Judicial Intern in at the Wisconsin Supreme Court. Following graduation from law school, Mr. Morse began practicing at a boutique law firm in his hometown of Traverse City, MI, where he gained experience facilitating transactions and providing outside general counsel services. Prior to joining Kemp Klein, he lived in Buenos Aires, where he advised U.S. businesses with Argentine interests on conducting business abroad and adhering to Argentine regulation. Mr. Morse speaks fluent Spanish and enjoys running, cycling, and downhill skiing.

Mr. Morse is licensed in Michigan and Wisconsin.
