George W. Gregory is a shareholder with over 30 years of experience in the areas of estate planning, tax and business law. Prior to practicing law, George was a Revenue Agent with the IRS. He has also taught tax courses at the undergraduate and graduate level at Wayne State University School of Business Administration. George’s years of practice both with the IRS and in private practice uniquely qualifies him to represent clients in tax controversies as well as estate planning and business planning for individuals.
Mr. Gregory is a frequent lecturer and has presented materials for various professional groups including the Michigan Institute of Continuing Legal Education and the Michigan Association of Certified Public Accountants.
George was one of the draftsmen of the Michigan Estate Tax Act, which repealed the old Michigan Inheritance Tax. He has written about tax related topics in various publications including the Michigan Bar Journal, Michigan CPA, Michigan Probate and Estate Planning Journal, Michigan Tax Lawyer, Oakland County Bar Association Laches and Journal of the Institute of Certified Financial Planners.
Mr. Gregory maintains an “AV” peer review rating with Martindale-Hubbell Law Directory, the highest peer review rating for attorneys. He has also been listed as one of the top 5% of attorneys in Michigan by Michigan Super Lawyers magazine since its inception 2006. He has also been selected by his peers for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America© 2019 in the field of Trusts and Estates (© 2018 by Woodward/White, Inc., of SC). He is a member of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel.
George is a Certified Public Accountant and has been a member of the Michigan Association of Certified Public Accountants and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
