Kemp Klein Nominated at the Troy Chamber of Commerce Business Excellence Awards for the Community Impact Award

Kemp Klein is honored to be nominated in the Troy Chamber of Commerce Business Excellence Awards presented by Horizon Bank for the Community Impact Award. We received this nomination recognition and kind letter to commemorate the occasion.

The Community Impact Award recognizes organizations and companies that are positively impacting their communities in ways that inspire integrity and respond creatively to needs in underserved communities.

The nomination reads: ”The Kemp Klein Law Firm has made a significant impact in the community. Their recent Golf Outing Benefitted SAY Detroit, which provides housing and needs for people in underserved communities. They have also sponsored many community events for local initiatives such as Stage Nature Center, Oakland Literacy Council, The Mighty Gobbler 5K and more.”

Many of the activities for which Kemp Klein has been recognized have been made possible by the Kemp Klein Foundation. The Kemp Klein Foundation was started in 1994. Everyone at Kemp Klein is encouraged to be involved from hands-on volunteer opportunities to paying to participate in casual Fridays. The Kemp Klein Foundation is funded via proceeds from casual Friday donations and contributions from the firm. Since its inception, the Foundation has contributed over $1,000,000 to hundreds of worthwhile causes which reflect the shared values of the individuals at Kemp Klein.

Edward Nahhat Visits Clawson Middle School

Mr. Nahhat recently visited Clawson Middle School to give a speech about leadership. His speech focused on the twelve habits of great leaders and how children may become more successful in life by applying these habits. 

The students sent this letter to show their appreciation.

Kemp Klein Crafts No-Sew Blankets for Common Ground

For the fifth straight year, the attorneys and staff of Kemp Klein collaborated and crafted hand-tied fleece blankets for Common Ground’s clients. Common Ground distributes these blankets as comfort items for children, victims of trauma, homeless, and other families and individuals in need of assistance. We thank the Columbia Center for donating the space for our blanket making event free of charge. 

The Kemp Klein Foundation is a proud Legacy Society Benefactor for Common Ground. Kemp Klein has provided more than $200,000 in pro bono work to Common Ground. In addition to the pro bono work and financial contributions, we have hosted joint events for staff and clients of Common Ground, participated in Common Ground’s Adopt-A-Family initiative and we have held blanket making and other events to help those in need. Since its inception, the Kemp Klein Foundation has contributed over $1,000,000 to hundreds of worthwhile causes.

Kemp Klein Supported Oakland Literacy Council's Annual Ex Libris Event

Kemp Klein recently sponsored Oakland Literacy Council’s Annual Ex Libris Event. This fundraising event benefits adult literacy by funding new tutors, providing curriculum and technology for learners. Kemp Klein believes that literacy is vital, and in alignment with that belief, the Kemp Klein Foundation has supported Oakland Literacy Council for 29 years.

For over 37 years, the Oakland Literacy Council has enabled adult students to achieve individual literacy goals through a partnership with trained volunteer tutors. They serve native-English speaking adults who need basic reading, writing, and math skills, and foreign-born adults who need English reading, writing, or conversation skills.

Brian Jenney Sponsors The 2023 Mighty Gobbler 5k and 1 Mile Run / Walk

On behalf of Kemp Klein, Brian Jenney is supporting The Mighty Gobbler 5k and 1 Mile Run / Walk. We have been a proud supporter of this event for many years.

The Mighty Gobbler 5K and 1 Mile Run / Walk takes place on November 23, starting at 8:30 am for the 1 Mile fun run/walk and 9:00 am for the 5K. The race will begin at Lutheran Church of the Master, 3333 Coolidge Hwy., in Troy. The course winds through neighborhoods and commercial areas, and is a mixture of roads and sidewalks.

The event benefits three local charities Micah 6 Community, Interfaith Volunteer Caregivers and Troy People Concerned. Micah 6 Community serves Pontiac residents through programs that increase their access to fresh food; promote economic development; stabilize neighborhoods; and provide spiritual and emotional support. Interfaith Volunteer Caregivers makes it possible for older and disabled adults to enjoy independence and quality of life through a network of supported, prepared and fulfilled volunteers. Troy People Concerned is a service organization supporting Troy residents in time of need with assistance, information and referrals.

Sydney McMillan Supports Stage Nature Centers Nature Uncorked Annual Fundraiser

On behalf of The Kemp Klein Foundation, Sydney McMillan is supporting Stage Nature Centers Nature Uncorked Annual Fundraiser.

The City of Troy’s nature center is operated by the Troy Nature Society, a nonprofit organization that raises funds to support the programs and outdoor activities offered at the Stage Nature Center. This popular 100-acre nature preserve with two miles of walking trails and its large interpretive building are dedicated to the education of the community about the natural world. All proceeds from the event help underwrite the educational nature programs and operations of the nature center.

Nature Uncorked takes place at the Troy Community Center on Friday, November 10th, from 6-9pm.

The mission of the Kemp Klein Foundation is to provide support to charitable organizations and to promote volunteerism throughout the firm and community. Edward Nahhat visits Clawson Middle School's Plan for Success Class

Kemp Klein Attorney Edward Nahhat recently visited Clawson Middle School’s Plan for Success Class and shared the story of how he is able to find a way to keep his passions as part of his life. He shared his dream of bringing outdoor theatre to his community, and twenty-some years later, Shakespeare Royal Oak is still going strong at Starr Park each summer.
